I’ve recently been on a design kick. There are all kinds of amazing designers out there in all kinds of discipline. Industrial design, graphic and typography are a few of the areas that I’ve been reading about. Truly original and creative design is something that I have a great appreciation/jealousy of. On occasion, I have a flash of brilliance and come up with something original and decent, but the people that do this on a daily basis for a means of existence completely blow my mind. Racking one’s brain to constantly come up with something new and fresh must be an exhausting, yet rewarding experience.
In light of all my recent interest, I’m sharing my favorite sites involving design with you. I hope you have some other suggestions or thoughts on the direction of design. Personally, I’m enjoying watching the advancement of technology and what it means for design on all levels. Without further ado, here are my favorite sites for reading up on design:
Definitely my favorite for industrial design. This is a interestingly designed site with lots of pictures, but still a simple presentation. Great products, prototypes and ideas and it’s updated multiple times daily.
I love the design of this site. A simple silo-style theme that gives you a great picture of the element and all you do is click and go to a sweet article/blog post.
MoT isn’t updated as regular, but if you are into graphic design and/or typography, this is a good place to visit. They post some great articles on font styling.
This guy, Bobby, seems to know exactly what people want to read sometimes. He’s typically updated daily and the posts are interesting and unique. He also puts up a new wallpaper from a random designer every week and a mixtape on occasion as well. Definitely rss reader worthy.
Not only do these sites provide some awesome links to the design world, the sites themselves are typically well-designed and present the info in a great form. Check them out when you get some time.
