Milk

Noooo, not the secretion, the politician!

Better.

Saw this a while back, just now getting to the review.

Watched it with my mom, as open minded as she is, she squirmed whenever any males kissed. It was funny. The kissing was literally PG/PG-13 tho. I’m sure high school musical had as many kisses, just boy model kissing girl model. Frame it in that sense if you need a reality check.

I don’t think too much about Gay Rights, so this movie was a nice history lesson. Hard to believe this happened in my lifetime. I don’t waste my time thinking about gay rights because it’s such an obvious after thought to me, i don’t even understand why it’s an issue. When people get flustered about it, it’s so dumb that I can’t even listen to them. Who cares? Is the only thing I can say to them. I can’t believe people waste their lives trying to tell people who they can and can’t live with. Oh well. I’m glad these people in Milk were around to open up the eyes of a lot of idiots so I don’t have to listen to them.

I have a dilly of a time determining what I think about true stories. It’s hard to decide what question is more important: Was it entertaining? or Was it true to life?

This movie managed to be both. From the videos I saw of Mr. Milk, Penn nailed it. He became the character so well, it was hard to believe he wasn’t that person by the end of the movie. As you probably know Mr. Penn won “best actor” despite the much lauded performance of Mickey Rourke in the Wrestler. I saw that movie and enjoyed it. Both men were deserving of the award, maybe the truthiness of Milk was enough to make his portrayal a little more believeable? Who knows?

8 dude kisses/10
