Ok, so I love hip-hop. I think it’s an extremely creative way to make music. I especially like it when someone incorporates some live band action into their act (a la The Roots…still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen). Well, Nyle decided to do something great recently. This video was done in one take with an amazing collaboration of vocalists, producers, band members, and, of course, Nyle. A lot of work went into it, as they practiced 6 times and tried 31 times before they got just what they wanted. I should also note this was filmed with the drool-tastic Red One video camera.
Nyle is a senior at NYU and puts out some great stuff. His rap style is classic East Coast with smooth vocals and stylish, effortless flow. He samples heavily from a lot of popular stuff out there and it makes for a nice listen. Anyways, my Thursday is definitely going to be spent exploring what more this guy has to offer.
that's awesome. i'm glad he includes the idea of his personal response to the recession. it's always more enriching to see artists that are intelligent (which i use very loosely here).

I'm not sure of Nyle's exact influences, but this is very indicative of that East Coast style. I love it. It's the old school alt hip hop in the same vein as ATCQ, De La Soul, etc. And more recently, Common, Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Great messages with intelligent lyrics and great flow. If only we saw more hip-hop like this in the mainstream. Murs is another of my favorites who loves to rap about real life and not fast cars and ho bags.
Tapsak
oh yeaa, shout out.

i also really like the gnarls barkley live at abbey road studios videos, especially transformer
