Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse front man Mark Linkous have teamed up to produce a sweet little album. It has yet to be released, but you can listen to Dark Night of the Soul over on NPR. I gave it a whirl yesterday, and it’s very entertaining. There are numerous other artists involved (ranging from Flaming Lips to Iggy Pop). The album is also intended to be accompanied by visuals from David Lynch.
Another interesting note about the album is the way they are releasing it. Basically, you buy the album and get a CD-R with the label already on it with the Lynch photography as well. They are in disputes with EMI and as such, will distribute the CD-R with a “use it as you will.” disclaimer. You can stream and read more about the album HERE.
