Mariner’s revenge. there should be an actual music video for this. these kids did a dece job tho.
weezer – live set . playlist from a great little concert weezer did for MTV in 2001. They didn’t suck yet. Well, hash pipe sucked, and it’s unfortunately included in this, but it was a single at the time. They played a great B-side in this short set, so I’ll forgive it. I threw in one more tasty tasty b-side at the end for good measure.
beirut take away show. i like pretty much every take away show ive seen. This one just epitomizes what they should be. It’s organic and playful and seems almost spur of the moment.
mega man 2 medley. why was this music so good? why was this game so good?
Adventures of pete and pete. underrated show. this makes me sound old, but children’s programming sucks now. things im happy i remember: michael jordan, my dog ace, and mtv/simpsons/nickelodeon collectively not sucking.
Good stuff Bjorn - rooting around in the coffins of childen's programming so we don't have to. Beirut shouldn't be called a band. Their stuff is more chantish or cheer-like. Cheer leader is the wrong word for the guy. Maybe mob leader? I don't know if that video was from Nantes, but I hitchhiked there last week with a conspiracy theorist who claimed the gulf stream would stop by 2020. Rivers is always good to here. I have been listening to alot of Maladroit lately, though "across the sea" has gotten me through the hard times this summer. I'd love to drink beer with you, mr. schey, and talk it out, singing Barret's Privateers and howling at the moon. i just found out they translated hamlet into klingon... and that's that.

Just an fyi: the video is shot in Paris on Rue Oberkampf. It's in the 11th, which is full of bars and a fairly lively area.

i'd really like to read something by that guy from beirut. i just saw a free show last night by a guy called 'socalled'. the band was billed as yiddish hiphop. he plays with fred wesley, the trombonist from james brown. it was really cool. i think they are canadian. just this skinny white guy making beats and then playing a grand piano along with them then throwing out really cool raps like 'eat whats on your plate, then eat the plate. every silver lining has it's cloud."
